Iku Sushi at One40William

There has been a lot of talk about the uprising sushi joint and with one visit you will know why. Not only is it the home of the famous Cheeseburger Sushi, it is also the first of it’s kind in Perth where you can create your own sushi box. You select your choice of cute individually wrapped sushi or nigiri and you do not have to settle for unwanted pieces you normally would with the pre-made boxes.

The decor is fun, fresh and colourful. The staff are upbeat, friendly and are more then happy to talk you through their concept and their hot menu, which I have not had the pleasure of trying, but it looks fabulous.

Salmon and Eel Nigiri $2 approx.

Ikusushi Eel and Salmon Nigiri

A very clean and enjoyable way to have bites of your favourite nigiri. Simply pull the plastic apart by the both ends.

Panko Onion Rings $4.95

Ikusushi Panko Onion Rings

Simply the best onion rings I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. This is made fresh to order so it’s always piping hot. Large, crispy onion pieces and complemented beautifully by their house sauce and salad.

Cheeseburger Beef Sushi $7.50

Ikusushi Cheeseburger Beef Sushi

This is what an asian cheeseburger looks like. Deep fried sushi roll of beef and cheese centred sushi where with every bite, the cheese comes oozing out. You would think the texture of the rice would change after such treatment, but on the contrary, the rice was fluffy and chewy and at perfect temperature.

It is serve with their mayo and I like to add a bit of soy sauce.

Warning: One person should not consume more then four pieces at one sitting. Even though it’s incredibly tasty, like anything deep fried, it should be portion controlled.

Cheeseburger Chicken Sushi $7.50

Ikusushi Cheeseburger Chicken Sushi

Exactly like the Cheeseburger Beef Sushi but with chicken.

The outside batter on both of the Cheeseburger sushi reminds me of good fish and chips.

Ribenna Jelly Cup with Marshmallow $2 approx.

Ikusushi Ribenna Jelly Cup with Marshmellow

A very refreshing jelly cup for Perth’s hot weather at the moment and the marshmallow topping was like the icing on top of a cake.

Fridge of Individual Wrapped Nigiri

Ikusushi Fridge of Nigiri and Good Stuff

Lots of nigiri flavours to meet everyone’s taste buds. For those of you who do not like nori or seaweed, some of the nigiri’s are wrapped with a slice of cucumber instead. How clever.

Fridge of Other Goodies

Ikusushi Fridge of Goodies

This includes $1 bottles of water, salads, fruit salads and other drinks.

This place would be very dangerous for me around lunchtimes. This is a must try for the adventurous sushi lovers.

Rick Stein’s Food Blogger Competition Episode

Who wouldn’t want to see Rick Stein live on stage for his new upcoming Food Odyssey Tour? Lucky for me, he’s on the hunt for the best food blogger from each city to join him!

All you have to do is share a recipe that you interpret as truely Aussie.

It’s all brand new to me – this will be my first ever cooking competition. So I decided to make an Aussie classic.. a burger the lot with an asian twist.

Australia is a place where all cultures come together, and with that comes the fusion of ingredients from different countries into a dish for the greater good. That’s what I try to achieve with my Ultimate Aussie dish… LittleMissBacon’s Panko Prawn Sliders!

I included all the different things aussies love to eat into each burger such as prawns, pineapple, fresh produce and bacon (sorry guys I don’t like beetroot).

For the full recipe: Click here.

In order: Prawn and Pineapple Slider, Prawn and Bacon Slider, Prawn and Cheese Slider, Prawn and Quail Egg Slider.

Innards with a Dizzle of Dynamite Sauce

Dynamite sauce is the perfect creamy sauce with a bit of a bite to it. It’s also the tastiest sauce known to man – simply mix japanese mayo/kewpie with sriracha chilli sauce.

My Slider the Lot

It was really hard to fit my whole mouth around this monstrosity but when I did, even I was surprised with the taste! Crispy salty bacon, sweet juicy pineapple, oozing egg yolk and then the star of the dish… the moist, bursty prawn patty. The bread really complimented the fillings, with it’s firm yet chewy soft consitency.  If you love prawns and burgers I highly recommend you give this a try.

I loved cooking this dish because it’s simple, only took just over an hour and it’s really versatile – everyone can accessorise their burger however they like. Last but not least, it was very rewarding… my family loved it and is already asking when I’ll cook it again!

Homemade Coal BBQ Pizza Episode

It’s only fitting that my first post should feature something delicious, fun and full of bacon bits. It’s Labour Day long weekend so there isn’t a better time to whip out the mini Weber BBQ and try something different. I decided to redeem my Barbecues Galore voucher and bought a pizza stone and spatula set for $39.

My First Ever Pizza Dough (See Recipes)

My First Ever Pizza Dough

The Pizza dough could have been better as I had misread the recipe and did not have enough semolina flour nor the resting time for the dough. It did not have those crispy bubble bursts throughout the crust as I would have liked to have achieve. Having said that, everyone enjoyed the flavours of the dough and the smokiness of the coal plus hickory wood which made up for the texture.

Salami, spicy sausage, ham off the bone and thinly sliced smokey spec bacon.

mmm meaty…

Smokey Pizza Stone and a Giant Spatula

Smokey goodness and a huge spactula

You can see the smokiness of the coal and hickory wood which was amazing. This was a Chicken and Bacon pizza with Mushroom Sauce and BBQ Sauce Swirl.

The sweetness of the pineapple and the tang of the BBQ went well with the mountain of meat.

I felt like being creative and made a dessert pizza in the shape of a love heart. By the time I took the photo the ice cream had melted and it makes the pizza look a bit sad. It was indeed a happy pizza as we were all very happy to eat it.
