Fremantle Getaway Episode
When my boyfriend and I first started dating we wanted to go somewhere special where we would not bump into anyone. Fremantle provided us with the perfect haven for culture, adventure and most importantly… food. Every time we return here, not only do we get butterflies going to our usual haunts but we are also excited to try new places.
While waiting for a seat at Perth’s best ramen eatery, we decided to start our day with some coffee.
The decor is very unique being a decked out heritage-listed property.
Inside Hush Espresso Bar
Cappuccino $4.00 approx
This is our first time to Hush and this is the best looking coffee I’ve seen in Perth. The barista is very skilled, and the taste was simply amazing. The smoothest coffee with aromatic beans, the froth was very creamy down to the last sip.
Mocha with Belgian Chocolate $4.50 approx
Another thing I have been on the hunt for is a perfect mocha and this is my favourite so far. A shot of esspresso laced with bittersweet chocolate. It tasted like it was made with love like the loveheart would suggest.
Dosukoi Japanese Noodle House Menu
This tiny noodle house is located inside the Freo Markets. There are only about a dozen items on the menu and by 2pm most of the dishes are sold out. You order, pay and then take a number and wait in line until they SMS you that there’s room for you to eat. The wait time is usually an hour and believe me it’s worth the wait.
The ramen is recommended to be eaten in house or else the texture of the noodles will go soft within five minutes and you won’t get the dish at it’s full potential. The ramen stock is either a delicious tonkotsu (pork) stock, or fish stock. Both have been cooked for many many hours resulting in a concentrated bodied soup.
Soft Pork Ramen $9.00 approx
Soft and salty thin slices of pork belly in ramen with a swirly slice of fishcake, nori, spring onions and wood ear mushroom.
As always the soup is scorching hot and slurpingly delicious down to every bite.
Prawn Dumpling Ramen $9.00 approx
Like above but with crunchy pieces of prawn dumplings.
We always forget after a full belly of ramen we feel like napping, however we waddled our way to explore what else was in Freo.
Freo Markets
As always there was a range of fresh fruit. What grabed my eyes were the vibrant Wanneroo strawberries and the USA cherries. After seeing such tasty looking strawberries we wanted to try some for dessert.
Chocolate dipped Strawberry Selection
Chocolate coated strawberries with marshmellows are next on my list!
Choc coated Strawberries with Nuts $3.50
Mmm fresh and nutty.
Indian Snacks
Normally we like to snack at this joint. They do some Jester’s style pies with curry flavours like butter chicken.
Cupcakes
A display of specialty cupcakes.
Take Home Pack $2 each
Maltesers, oreos, cherry ripe and chocolate with candy cupcakes.
Live Juice Fresh OJ
$5 for a cup of icy cold sweet OJ.
We then ventured outside the markets to our favourite Freo lolly store.
Lolly
I prefer this store rather then Roc Candy because the flavours are tastier and if you’re unsure of what to get, the very generous lady at the front gives you samples before you buy. Mixed bags are also available.
Bags, jars and lollypops available also.
Live White Fairy Statue

Always good supporting the entertainers.
Here’s something you don’t see everyday.
Low fat you say? I wonder how good it could taste.
Free Samples
How convenient. I’m not a fan of frozen yogurt but this was amazing. No funny aftertaste in your mouth. The texture is like a soft serve and the yogurt flavours are seasonal. There was natural, chocolate and pear.
Toppings
Everything you can think of including fruits, sauces, chocolate bits and even caramel popcorn.
Premade Take Away Packs
Here’s one we prepared earlier.
Regular Cup $4.00 +2 Topping $5.00
My bf and I decided to choose a flavour each so we’d share one serving. He chose blueberries and I chose mango sauce. It was fruity and delicious.
Since Fremantle is a half hour drive from where we live, we could not decide on where to have dinner. I felt like pizza and the Bf felt like burgers. We decided it we’d go to both and make each other happy.
My choice was pizza at Little Creatures Brewery, the BF chose Missy Moo’s Burger Bar.
Little Creatures Lemon Lime & Bitters
My choice since I was driving. Even though I don’t drink I’ve heard that Little Creature’s Brewery is a must when in Freo because they serve some delicious pub grub.
Little Creatures Pale Ale
The BF’s beer.
Little Creatures Frites $9.00
This big bowl of chips was demolished in record time. These skin on chips were crunchy and served with creamy aioli.
Little Creatures Pork and Italian Sausage Pizza with Fennel $16approx
The pizza was amazing! The base was very thin and crispy.
Missy Moos Burger Bar
That little car toy is our table number. The decor in here very cute and friendly. Oragami is hanging from the ceiling, kids colouring pages on the countertop and an old school cocktail arcade cabinet in the corner.
Missy Moos Strawberry Milkshake $5.50
A very huge icy milkshake which I couldn’t finish no matter how hard I tried.
Missy Moos Tom, Tom and the Piper’s Wife $12.5 + $1.50 extra for caramelised onion.
Lean juicy beef patty, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, tom, baby spinach, BBQ sauce and aoili. No regrets about adding caramelised onion.
The bread was grilled on the outside for a perfect bite, the beef was premium quality and you could really taste it. An outstanding burger.
Missy Moos Chunky Chips $4.50
We ordered the wrong size chips. Again, no matter how good the chips were, we could not finish them.
Thank goodness we do not live in Freo or I suspect I would never stop eating!
