Cora’s Korean BBQ Applecross

The first time I went to Cora’s… I enjoyed it so much I had to show it off to friends the following week. Cora’s is the most unique Korean BBQ joint in Perth because they use coal with two different grill plates. One for marinated meats and the other for everything else. I think Korean BBQ is perfect for winter because the heat from the BBQ keeps you warm.

Fair warning though, make sure you don’t go out afterwards because you will smell like a BBQ yourself.

It’s $36.00pp and you get unlimited food, a free soft drink and unlimited tea and coffee. The staff are always helpful and attentive.

Cora’s Ready to Eat Warmer Foods

Cora's Hot Food

You can munch on these while you wait for your food to cook. Choose from korean omelette, fried rice, gyoza’s, deep fried fish pieces, deep fried chicken wings done two ways and glass fried noodles.

Salads, Condiments and Desserts

Buffet Meats and Seafood

Cora's Buffet

Their uncooked buffet consists of marinated meats, prawns, mussels, pork belly, spicy chicken, beef slices and condiments like garlic, chilli and sauces.

I love how the meat is always cut very thin so it’s easier to cook and absorbs more sauce.

Korean Rice Wine!

Cora's Free Beer

The Bf had this but couldn’t finish it.

My Entree Plate

Cora's Sushi and Fishcake Sticks

The fishcake stick was very juicy and the sushi was nice.

Miso Soup

Cora's Miso Soup

I had some miso soup to start as well.

Sauces

Cora's Sauces

From memory I think we tried the soy, chilli soy, chilli sauce and some of bean-y sauce.

BBQ Coal Grill for Marinated Meats

Cora's BBQ Grill

As you can see we tried a bit of everything. We also added raw garlic and chilli to the cooking meat for extra flavouring. Also, the cooked garlic and chilli pieces are delicious and crunchy. The grill above is the best for marinated meats.

BBQ Coal Grill for Perfect Crispy Meat

Cora's BBQ Grill for Perfect Crispy Meats

This second grill is used for non-marinated meats and perfect for my favourite item in the buffet…. Pork Belly! Otherwise referred to as bacon strips.

My Hot Plate

Cora's Hot Food

I grabbed a bit of everything from the hot food selection. I loved the noodles and saucy chicken wings.

Pork Belly! (Bacon Strips)

Cora's Bacon Strips (Pork Belly)

These perfect crispy pork belly pieces take a bit longer than the other meats, but it’s worth it. I love watching the fat drip off and igniting the flames for special effects and even crispier bacon!

My favourite condiment with the pork belly is a combination of sesame sauce with the salt mixture they offer.

Mixed Plate of Everything

Cora's Mixed Plate

For the prawns, I always find it more enjoyable when you peel the shell before cooking.

More food…

Cora's Marinated Meats

This in my second favourite, marinated pork on the bone. The marinate tastes like a sweet, dark soy-like combination.

My Dessert Plate

Cora's Dessert Plate

I helped myself to pieces of caramel and chocolate mud cake, watermelon, rockmelon, honeydew and orange.

My BF’s Dessert Plate

Cora's Tea and Jelly

My BF loves his jelly.

Be sure to book in advance if you have a large group of people.

Little Lamb Hot Pot

On a cold Monday night my bf and I were wandering the streets of Northbridge to fulfil our bubble tea cravings. We couldn’t help but notice a new restaurant called Little Lamb Hot Pot and it was completely packed which is unusual for a Monday night. We took a peek inside and was told that it was fully booked. In the 30secs we wertr in there, the smell, look and concept hooked us in and we knew we’d have to come back.

It’s a Chinese Buffet with Hot Pot AND not just any grill BBQ, but a coal grill BBQ station! Hot Pot is also known as steamboat where you drop a variety of meats, seafood, vegetables and fish balls. These ingredients are boiled in a flavoured stock of your choice. By the end of your eating session the broth should be very flavoursome from all the ingredients.

Little Lamb Salad Bar, Noodles and Veggies

Little Lamb Salads and Noodles

The first few salad options were cooked salads including spicy beef, noodle salad and some more adventurous salads like chicken feet and pickled veg and chilli.

Further down you have multiple noodle options and greens.

More Veggies, Sauces and Other Goodies

Little Lamb Veg and Misc

Following the buffet line around there was more asian condiments, sauces and other goodies which included Spam, fish cakes, lotus root, crabstick and so much more.

Fish Balls, Fish Balls and Fish Balls … Oh and some hot food in the background.

Little Lamb Fish Balls and Hot Food

Mussels, prawns and so, so many varieties of fishballs. Stuffed ones, soft ones, crunchy ones, fried ones, thin ones, thick ones, half ones and then last but not least a crabstick inside a fishball! All were amazing.

In the background there is a warmer of ready to eat food.

Little Lamb Half Spicy Half Normal Hot Pot

Little Lamb Half Spicy Half Normal Pot

Half normal and half spicy. The normal part tasted like a herbal hearty broth. The spicy side, which was my favourite tasted like a real vesion of what 2 minute noodles try to taste like.

Miscellaneous Skewers

Little Lamb Skewers

So many different skewers ready for you to rotate over the coal grill! Some normal stuff like pork, beef and chicken and then some more interesting skewers like liver, quail eggs, spam and my favourite pork skin to make crackling.

No need to use your muscles here the machine rotates the skewers for you!

Hot Food

While you wait for your food to cook, there are buns, gyoza’s, honey soy chicken and some amazing deep fried chilli salt and pepper squid.

At only $39.00 not only do you get all of the above, you also have unlimited tea, soft drinks, asian drinks, Emu Bitter cans and Hahn Light bottles. As they are relatively new, the service wasn’t top notch and this place gets packed so make sure you book ahead.
